Charley Castillo is a pilot and rich kid (see, it's a Griffin book). He ends up following probably-illegal orders from the President, and then gets involved with groups of businessmen who are giving under-the-table financial and tech help to Special Forces.
He has a German connection, and they end up in Argentina. There's even an abandoned Aero Commander at one of the airports they land at. I can't really think of any stock Griffin trope that isn't here.
The first book or two has some interest, some virtues. They worry about some real things, and work on some real problems. Even from the beginning it has more than I'm comfortable with of the "we have to ignore the law to make things work" trope, though.
